Coronation Street episode review, Weds 3 Jan, 8.30pm

Happy New Year Corrie fans. I have been away for Crimbo, which meant a major binge-watch when I returned on New Year's Day. Hope you had a good one, here's my take on the second part of Wednesday's double bill.

The racist thugs have vandalised the garage and poor Roy is collateral damage. This storyline is really important, and I like the way this is being handled, as racism sadly still exists. And it's well acted and disturbing, it also gets people talking.

Meanwhile, Sinead and Daniel meet to discuss the love triangle yet again. It is time to close this now, as the 'special connection' that Sinead thinks they had is now really boring. Daniel lies so that Sinead will run to the arms of Chesney, but methinks it will make her more confused. And his floppy fringe will be back like a shark fin real soon, over the ginnel to taunt Chesney.

Phelan gets angry in front of Eileen re Seb. And she sits there and still does not seem to suss that this is far more than mild anger management issues. Eileen, come on!

Gary visits Anna and orange is the new black, in terms of her tabard. And she is down and almost out. I want to see her get empowered but cannot see it happening.

In other news, Rana and Kate get caught out by  miserable Robert. Smile Robert, please, at something... anything!

Carla and Roy's relationship is one of the best things about Corrie at the moment. And I, for one am looking forward to more Rarla moments. So, it's a delight to see these teo sharing scenes.

Eileen finds a piece of Andy art, scorched and Luke spots it. Go Luke, shop Phelan and let's see him go down. It's time! Cut to Gary and his mum discussing Phelan. He might have gotten away with murder, but is the net closing in? I hope so! Phelan has more lives than Donald Trump!

Robert is unhappy (really!) that #Kana is taking place. They are the second best thing in the show, right now.

Gary wants to buy a van, or does he? With Seb reeled in, this might be easier than we thought it would be, to take Seb onto his aide and bring Pat down.

Ken sees Sophie in the Rovers who says that Emily Bishop is back in the UK, looking after her niece, Freda. Bring her back, if only as a guest performer. We love Emily Bishop!

Ken has morphed into Liam Neeson from Taken and I am liking this. Daniel has resigned himself to the fact that his abandonment issues have affected his behaviour. And meanwhile Luke has gone all Poirot, in his quest for the truth. More Ken as Liam Neeson, please!

Seb comes clean and tells Seb that he might have a new job, with Gary at a mill. He then thows Seb out. Eileen is disgusted but instead of fight, she rings Jason. He is in another soap, Eileen!

Sinead is crying again over Daniel. Or is she crying now that Chesney is her only choice now? What would you do? Dump both of em, or make them eat your scented candles?

Pat drives to Gary's new job site and has a look on his face which says 'sabotage!' I hope that this story comes to an end real soon, as it is dragging on.

Give me more #Rala and #Kana and break up the triangle, please! Loving Roy having something to do and as for Carla, it's like she never left!

**2 weeks behind you in Canada - we just saw Carla appear in a pub to meet Aiden last night.

Have to disagree with you on the Kate/Rana storyline. It is so boring, and all the kissing and fondling scenes only leads me to believe they are in lust, not in love. A storyline picked out of a hat and put into place with no pre-planned character connection. No shock factor, and no true love story, just a filler.

Robert has gone from a good character to misery guts indeed! While I like his new look as the Silver Fox, I'm not liking his new personality.

Would love to see Emily back, but I feel it's unlikely. I think the mention of her, is simply to make us aware she is back in England. She has been in Peru for far too long, not realistic at all. Perhaps she will make a permanent move to live with Freda - and we will see Rita, Norris and Ken embark on an offscreen visit to Emily's new home. :)

I wish this Sinead storyline would go away.. far away. I'd like it for Daniel and Chesney to say 'why are we fighting over this whiny bore?' then go for a pint together. I can't STAND Sinead now.

Agree with Anon about Kana - just a bunch of raging hormones. Who cares? If we’d ever see a truly conflicted Rana wrestle with her feelings for and vows made with Z, maybe. If we’d ever see Kate deal with being a home wrecker, maybe. If we’d ever see these two do anything but grope or make I wanna grope you eyes, maybe. But they don’t. IMO, David and David have more substance than these two. Kana is a symbol of how vapid Corrie is becoming. Hasty stories, slapped together, with little character development.

Rarla? Coy rolls off the tongue more easily. And I do wonder where this thing with Emily is going.

I agree with the comments about Kana,it's just another 'Cheating Connors 'storyline.
Now that Luke,Michelle[who seems to condone the affair]and Robert knows,I don'r like Zeedan being made to look the fool when he should be told the truth.
Speaking of fools,I would also like to see both Chesney and Daniel smarten up and dump Sinead who's become a horrible character.
She doesn't love either of them only the attention!

Totally had enough of Sinead, Chesney & Daniel triangle. There wasn’t any special connection between her and Daniel! Put Gemma and Chesney together as s couple. It would bring Gemma up a bit as she’s got a boy to help raise and she’s always had Chesney’s back, a true friend.
Robert is adding nothing to the story on the cobbles. He’s just a filler to keep Michelle busy. I don’t even like Michelle anymore.
Pat Phelan and the Windass plot needs to get done too!
Let’s 2018 be at true Rovers Return!

Enough of ' Kana' , their names are Kate and Rana. Getting sick of these put together names.

Agreed (unfortunately). I liked her when she first showed up but now find her grating on my nerves :( just whining constantly it seems (the writers even have me doing it now!!!)

That would be hilarious and great way to end a triangle that really holds no interest.

I just hope they don't turn Rana into the next Caz when this thing falls apart. That was the second most dragged out and unbelievable storyline after Phelan's. I just don't see Kate as the sort to awaken such strong feelings in anyone.
