Meanwhile in the salon, it’s Happy Hardcore Monday as David and Kylie take over for the day when Audrey takes Monday off. I can’t see the Renshaw Twins being very happy with Happy Hardcore, can you?. Anyway, Kylie offers flakey-reiki, upsets Rita and Betty, puts Julie in agony and word gets back to Audrey, as you hoped it would. It’s Gail who goes round to Audrey’s to share the story of shame from the salon but Audrey’s got her hands full painting Marc’s nails and putting on his make-up to transform him into Marcia. So to stop Gail finding out that Marc’s got a face full of slap, he throws himself into a white chocolate gateau and covers his face with cream. Gail doesn’t seem to think anything’s wrong, takes the explanation that Marc’s wearing a face-pack and dawdles off back home with Marc and her mother’s secret kept safe.
Elsewhere, in one of those classic soap moments, Chris starts crying and shouting at anyone who’ll listen: “I’ve got a brain tumour!”. We can only hope his end will be swift, he’s been a waste of space since he first turned up.
In other news, Fred Elliott’s butcher shop now has a For Sale sign up outside. And at Streetcars, Fat Brenda rings in sick with the sound of seagulls in the background. “She’s on the beach with a bag of chips,” says Lloyd. Steve can only agree

Why are they portraying Amber as some sort of vixen? It's laughable at best. She's more like somebody's pesky kid sister with a really bad hair do, and the come-hither looks she's flashing around are embarrassing.
What was she wearing yesterday? Those flamingo hued tights with the hair to match? Shame it cant stop her being as dull as ditchwater. I really dont know why she was brought back.
I actually thought Amber's magenta stripes were fun & flirty, and since she's about 20, perfectly fine. She was always a bright one, though, and I do wish she'd get her life back on track.
Maybe not quite up to Blanche and the AA meeting or the pot brownies, but I was roaring with goings on in Aud & Marcia's girls night in. The screws were twisting over and over, brilliant. Wish Gail would throw in the mope mop and work as Owen's PA - I think those two would play off each other well. Who knew she could be so funny.
I like watching Amber, but I wish she would stop saying things with a questionmark ( ? ) when she's not asking a question!
Agree with you AbbyK.. she used to be a bright spark that kept her father on track and actually wanted to do something with her life!! Now she`s had a personality transplant, got kicked out of school (...) and is flirting with anyone in trousers (or skirts..)

The way that Nick spoke to his mother in Monday’s episode was shameful. I am no fan of Gail, but this is the woman who has looked out for Nick for over 30 years, however misguidedly at times. Protecting what she saw as Nick's interests is the reason for her current lack of a job. Nick has no discernible talent apart from forming inappropriate relationships with needy women and it made me cringe to see him treat Gail like something unpleasant on the bottom of his shoe.
This is the fundamental problem with Coronation Street at the moment - no warmth. The scenes with the restaurant inspector were presumably meant to be funny, but they weren't. They were just nasty, because they were all about Gail being humiliated.
The Street used to be criticised for showing a rosy picture of life. But that is what we want to see. Neighbours and friends having conflicts, yes. But also people caring about each other and rallying around. That happened after the tram crash and is one reason why it was popular.
As it is, no-one seems to like anyone much, not even those who are supposed to do so. Deirdre continually snipes at Ken, Nick and David treat Gail like dirt, Tommy uses Tyrone as a doormat, Chris would rather smash up Maria's flat than tell her he might have a brain tumour, Carla is vile to everyone except Frank (let's see how that turns out) and Peter, (her ex best friend's husband), etc, etc. This is not Coronation Street. It's EastEnders.
Chris Fountain must be the worst actor ever in Corrie.
Side bar: Wanda Opalinska, the former Polish stitcher, opened Law & Order: UK as the Polish maid of the murder victims. Glad to see her working, but miss Wiki at the faktry.
What we need is the real FAT BRENDA to work at Streetcars with Lloyd and Steve....how funny would that be!! The Rovers is the wrong place for Steve. What on earth (besides the obvious) would Dr. Carter see in Tina. He must be at least 30 if not more and she is what....19, 20? He is educated and she pulls pints.....hmmmm.
I caught up with Monday's programme's last night - oh the shame..... They were the worst in living memory. I can't remember such nonsense or drivel in so long. Stella enough said, Stella singing row your boat.... omg.... enough already. Not only has she been forced upon Leanne she has been forced upon us. Somebody else said that she acts as though she's known the street's residents for years, she does and it's annoying, forecful and not natural.
Chris - are we supposed to care - if we are then I've got a lot to learn about myself that I'm a heartless so and so! I don't give tuppence about him. The story once again sprung up from nowhere about somebody we (or I) don't care about.
Mrs Doubtfire's face in a creme cake was funny, Mark's was not. It was RIDICULOUS! As ridiculous for Gail to see him with a face full of Max Factor! I wanted to scream it was so bad.
Amber is a joke. We already have enough moody clever know it all teens on the street in the shape of Sophie and Tina. What was the point of bringing her back? Secondly it gives Dev far too much air time!
The saving grace of the episodes was Kylie and David who under regular Corrie standards would have been okish but were exceptional in amongst the tripe that's now being served.
I am in a quandry good and proper...do I stay and watch my blood pressure raise or now bail with the other millions? I've griped and groaned enough about my beloved Street for ages but out of sentiment really not wanted to switch off. My finger is hovering over the 'off' button. Especially after watching the Corrie Years, reliving the wonderful stories, acting of yesteryear it emphasised how standards have fallen in recent years.
Monday was seriously sad tv to watch!
Adam Rekitt is completely correct with his comments. It is becoming more like Eastenders - there never used to be as much shouting, violence and general bad feeling as there is at the moment.
I wish they could make Gail a little happier and less dependent on her sons. They give Audrey separate storylines, so why not Gail? I hate the way Nick speaks to her, especially given that he is living under her roof...
I also agree about Chris Fountain - awful!
